Terms of Service

The short version

Try Stanza free for your first 2,000 dictated words. If you subscribe, it’s R$ 50 a month by card, or R$ 500 a year up front via Pix (12 months). You can cancel the monthly plan anytime, and you have 14 days after your first charge to change your mind and get your money back. Your license covers your own use on up to 2 devices. Your dictations are your property and stay on your machine.

1. The service

Stanza is a desktop dictation application for Windows, made by ALC TOBACCOS COMPANY LTDA (“ALC Group”, “we”, “us”), a company established in Brazil. Speech-to-text runs locally on your computer; see the Privacy Policy for exactly what data is and isn’t collected. By downloading or using Stanza you agree to these terms.

2. Free trial

Your first 2,000 dictated words are free — a lifetime allowance, not a weekly or monthly reset. No credit card is required. When the allowance is used up, a subscription is required to keep dictating.

3. Plans and billing

Stanza is offered on two plans: Monthly at R$ 50/month, paid by credit card and renewing automatically each month until you cancel; or Annual at R$ 500, paid up front via Pix for 12 months of access (cheaper than paying month to month). Payments are processed by Mercado Pago, the sale being made by ALC TOBACCOS COMPANY LTDA. Prices may change; if they do, existing subscribers are notified in advance and any change applies only to subsequent renewals.

4. Cancellation

The monthly plan can be cancelled anytime — from your Mercado Pago account (under your subscriptions) or by emailing us at alcgroupltda@gmail.com. You keep access until the end of the month you already paid for. The annual plan is a one-time 12-month purchase and simply ends when the 12 months are up — nothing renews on its own. Cancelling never deletes your local files — your dictation archive is on your disk and remains yours.

5. Refunds

If Stanza isn’t for you, tell us within 14 days of your first charge and we’ll refund it in full — email alcgroupltda@gmail.com or reply to your receipt. For monthly renewal charges, ask within 14 days of the billing date and we’ll refund the charge if the service hasn’t been substantially used in that period. Refunds are issued through Mercado Pago to your original payment method (Pix refunds return to the paying account).

6. License and activations

Your subscription grants a personal, non-transferable license to use Stanza, activated by a license key on up to 2 of your own devices. Don’t share, sell, or publish your key. If you switch computers, deactivate the old device in the app (or ask us — we’ll sort it out).

7. Acceptable use

Don’t attempt to circumvent the trial, licensing, or word counting.
Don’t reverse-engineer or redistribute the software, except where the law expressly permits it.
Don’t use Stanza for unlawful purposes.

8. Your content

Everything you dictate is yours. It is created and stored on your device; we claim no rights over it and, in normal use, never receive it (see the Privacy Policy).

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Stanza is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Speech recognition is probabilistic: transcriptions can contain errors, and you are responsible for reviewing text before relying on it.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Stanza is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

11. Changes

We may update the service and these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date, and — when they affect billing — announced by email before your next renewal.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, where ALC TOBACCOS COMPANY LTDA is established. Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
